We are installing a TKO 5-speed (replacing a Powerglide) with the standard mechanical clutch from SST...wow is the pedal effort high over a short pedal throw. I guess perhaps I would get used to it but it seems like this clutch is going to significantly reduce the "fun" of driving the car. I am doing the manual conversion in the first place because the Powerglide was so boring to drive.
I have already read the hydraulic vs mechanical clutch threads on the site. No one mentions this clutch. I realize I would have to do something to reinforce the firewall.
Perhaps I am spoiled on modern manual transmissions and their low-effort hydraulic clutches, but I was hoping the mechanical clutch in the car wouldn't be so brutal and would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
