HOLLIS - Police are investigating several reports of suspicious drone activity and said two residents reported a drone lingering outside a window late at night.

The first report was on June 24 on Flint Pond Road.

"They heard what sounded like a helicopter outside their window and when they looked outside they saw the drone," said Lt. Joseph Hoebeke.

Another resident reported a similar unusual incident on Wright Road. Hoebeke said the resident reported that the drone appeared to be peering inside. Neither resident was able to give a description because it was dark outside at the time.

This week an employee at the town transfer station reported seeing a drone recently that was hovering over the recycled metals. The activity was concerning because the drone operator could have been looking for precious metals including copper, which is a common target for thieves.

Police are warning residents to take precautions and report any suspicious activity immediately.

"If you do have blinds make sure your blinds are closed at night, if you want to protect your privacy," Hoebeke said.
