The wife got a call from her brother this morning. The house they grew up in caught fire early this morning. MiL was in the house when it went up. Thankfully, she was able to get out, with the dog, and they are not hurt. Wife's older brother was also in the house. He's in the hospital, suffering from smoke inhalation and burns.
While the fire seems to have started on the second floor, the attic is completely gone, as is most of the second floor. I'm guessing that heavy water damage has destroyed just about everything on the main floor.
The house was a grand old home, over 200 years old.
