1/2 Mile racing- Tires?

Anyone here done any of the 1/2 mile or longer races...like the TX Mile? Seems like we had a 200mph C2 here a while back?

Thinking about taking the 'Vette out for a 1/2 mile one...but not sure on what everyone uses for tires.

I'd like to stay with 15" stuff and need to stay in the 28" or so range. Some folks say the Hoosier/MT drag radials hold OK for 1/2 mile and give traction...but I don't think the TX mile folks will let you run them. Seems to be a fine line between traction and ability to stay together.

What about front tires?

There's so many folks bumping 175-200MPH in the 1/8th mile these days...and way past that in the 1/4 using DR's.....but what happens to them in that last 1/4 mile??

Not really sure how fast this thing will go WOT for a half mile...but should be fun if I can hook it up.

Thoughts? (besides I'm nuts!)
