MAME Arcade machine.. advice?

Since my kids need somewhere to sleep, and my wife won't give up the home gym area, it's not possible for me to actually buy any real amount of old 80's stand up arcade games.

However, we do have a bonus room above the garage, I've got a Monster Bash pin and a cocktail multi game (60 games). But I have room for one more cabinet and I'd love to get a nice MAME machine. Has anyone done this? Better to buy and existing one, or build yourself?

There has got to be a way to put a PC in there and basically load up every singe 80's game ever made.
