Front Plate and Oil Temp

Guys,

For kicks (and lets call it backyard data), I removed the front plate (mounted on the grill) and drove a 100 miles on Saturday. It was one of the hottest weekends on record here in MD with Temps at 109'.

I was stuck in stop and go traffic during the peak of the heat for over 2 hours and when the roads did open up, gunned it to near triple digits (on deserted roads) on the way to my destination.

My Oil temp never fluctuated beyond 210' the entire time!

Yesterday however I put the front plates back on and drove about 30 min and back to the shops at moderate speeds. My Oil temp (same time of the day) with Temps at 107' was 236'??

You think that had something to do with the Front plate? I'm thinking it severely restricts airflow through the front grills.

Curious as to your thoughts?

Thank you
