Hawk vs Raybestos pads

I have a C6 Z51 and I currently run DTC70/60 pads with RE-11 tires. I have no complaints, but I'm curious about the Raybestos ST47/45 combination as an alternative. From what I've read, people seem to like these pads... they have a good reputation for longevity, they're slightly thicker and less expensive, yet the Hawk pads seem to be far and away the more popular choice. Why is that?

The only negative thing I've read about the Raybestos pads is that some people have had issues with lockups under braking. I like a strong initial bite and I have a hard time believing I couldn't control lockups with proper pedal modulation... so that doesn't seem like much of a negative to me.

I don't care about dust or noise, and I run cheap blank rotors so I'm not really concerned with rotor friendliness. I just want good reliable stopping power at a good price. On paper, these pads seem to compare very favorably so I'm puzzled why people pay more for the Hawks.

Am I missing something?
